That just pushes the question back one level. Women go "out of their 
heads," but they do not do these sensless acts of random murder to any 
great degree. It's a male disease. Males have been rewarded for being 
aggressive throughout our evolution. It worked. It was passed on. It 
does not work the same way in a complex inter-connected, highly 
technological culture. All the frontiers are virtual now. It's all 
show. It was okay when two knights in armor could go out in a field and 
disembowel eachother. It stopped being okay sometime... pick your 
epoch, but too long ago. Society has become more and more feminized, 
and will continue to go in that direction. It's for the best. There is 
no reason to be nostalgic about the old days.

But we (men) still carry the genes and there is way too much 
stimulation of our libidinal murderous impulses. Not all the aggression 
can be sublimated. In a bewildering, often overwhelming, complex and 
hyper-stimulated, frustrating and frightening world- violence 
cauterizes confusion. Sometimes, for some of us, it's just too hard to 
let it bleed, so we make it bleed more, until all the bleeding stops.

Women deal with bleeding much better than men, and on a regular basis.

Far  too many of these cases are not heightened testosterone but simply 
people out of
their head. Yes they are male but I see them as mentally ill first.
