both of us ( i surmise) have an admiration for at least some of the works
of Thomas Pynchon
as for me:
a) no breakfast yet, but about to make coffee
b) wondering if i was going to get a call from Ms Melanie Jackson after
responding to the question about ghostwriting, if the original question was
a delicate feeler from IG Pynchon (-;
c) some writers license their worlds and characters - especially in the sf
world...like a workshop of somebody like Paul Revere, he didn't personally
make every plate, spoon or whatever...is that a helpful thought?
personally i think the p. genes are good ones so that between his greater
wisdom and experience and quite likely a spry physiology he's still one of
the better sources of good prose on the planet, and he ought to not look
for any kind of ghost, even one as talented and obscure as myself (although
he or his factotum is welcome to mail me off list for plot ideas or
criticism of any works in progress, and i'll be glad to oblige (big chuckle
here)), but, just churn out whatever the heck he feels like himself. did
he wonder what james wood would say when he wrote gr? heck no. a-and that
worked out!
frickin' 25, 29, maybe 44 volumes of Doc Sportello adventures (i'd buy them
all) - he could do that, and the critics? Well, have intercourse with them
if they fail to see the humor.
