YES!....the time in which one could fully live in time, not in History as a State of Seige.
History as a state of seige, impending war, then war---at one point we read that no one knew whether
War was official or not yet there was fighting---is the major atmosphere of these pages......

Grace used here might literally mean time, but a fuller meaning would be a period of being free from harm.
