And, concomitantly, some more meaning(s) to 'a narrowing of choices"...p. 963. Here the choices
narrow to ways to choose (so as to avoid getting killed)...leading to:
"Only choice. Try and scoot between the armies." Then, if we get that far, worry about that Albania.
As with the extended narrowing use re the cattle in the stockyards, the narrowing is toward death
and, overarchingly, not having full options is a partial death? An extension right out of N.O.Brown,
so to speak?

Grace used here might literally mean time, but a fuller meaning would be a period of being free from harm.
