Against the Day

I think I've noticed more than ever that Chick is intended to be
the grounded-on-the-earth one as presented...........

And, I think that offhand remark about him being inclined to sloth is
a sly self-allusion by our author who has written on Sloth.....

His early groundedness is Pynchon's  but.....he is off with the Chums taking full part.
So, our author is too.

Which at least makes him not the author of the Chums' books in an important sense
or not coterminus with that author.......another adventurer not another windy teller
of boys' tales.

How about "Against Flying?"  Seems more apt in a book title "Against the Day.

Also, remember that group in GR call the "Counterforce?"
