AtD: Webb Traverse

Traverse......travel across, which he does and 'to deny', another meaning, sez somebody on the wiki.....
I like that as he denies his family web.......human web? He cuts his daughter Lake dead after her few days
away....(another runaway woman, who ends up a 'happy'-enough prostitute so far) .
 Narrator has Webb realize 'later' it is his fear of 'the feminine spirit' that has him reject Lake...

I suggest, as with many a realistic writer, many other writers, family matters a lot to the later Pynchon, as
I was not the first to bring up here. So, 

I continue to suggest that however sympathetic we find Webb's righteous loathing of being exploited by
the owners of capital, we are meant to find much fault in his responses and character in AtD.    I would
continue to suggest that TRP more than hints that the criminally unjust world warps Webb into these
character flaws yet he could have made himself react differently---as is always the case in life---and in 
this book  especially.
