As far as his religious views go I can almost see Pynchon alongside Mason
reading through the Restricted Section of 'Dr. Bodley's Library' during the
(was it 12or13?) Lost Days of the Calendar. There are probably more
consistent strains of Gnosticism in his work than of anything we'd call
Religion Today...? There may be something said, however, when it comes to
Biblical Allusion in M&D, I am constantly finding more, Dixon putting ashes
on his head when the Lightning scares him sort of thing...
Ultimately I am less interested in Pynchon's Beliefs than I am of, say,
Rev. Cherrycoke's...
