What's Pynchon have to do with Nicholas Cage?
I think he invented him.

Bale's got incredible range (when he's not ensconced in a bat suit): The Prestige (his greatest, in my opinion), Rescue Dawn (see Werner Herzog's documentary, Little Dieter Needs to Fly, to appreciate Bale's fictional portrayal), American Psycho, Velvet Goldmine, The Machinist, Cage has two modes: goggle-eyed, and slightly less than goggle-eyed.

Don't get me wrong, Bale's a good actor, Cage is a greater actor, one of the greatest. It goes Brando, then...then...well I won't get into listing it would take all morning, but Bale's way fucking lower than Cage, because Cage is way high, up there.
