The east and west may be, since I was speculating without a net but
north and south as indicative coded tropes are not....................
But I like Paul Mackin's 'moral compass' better........
And, north-south are tropes firmly enmeshed in literary tradition yet
look at how much time we have spent trying to figure out the negatives
in P's East in later books.....wikipedia has no literary tradition on it so
I think P is creating it..........

and this wonderful land of Oz (our Earth) is far too complex to fit
into a fictional scheme, some allegorical plot and setting that smehow
ends up being anti-western european and anti-american. sorry, this is
projection.
