NP - Cloud Atlas Trailer

Faulkner's Short Stories continue to have an indelible effect on me. When I
was 17 I asked my uncle, 'what Faulkner should I start with?'he told me
first to read the entire King James Bible and then the Collected Short
Stories, I had done the former but the process of discovering the latter
was an event that ranks up there with first reciting Whitman to myself or
reading Gravity's Rainbow for the first time (all occurring in that 17th
year)
I have become enamored with Borges lately, via Andrew Hurley's translation,
and he seems not so much to create new worlds as he does invent already
created worlds. I began reading him long ago and felt, without any drugs, a
real "high" from encountering him, it seems he had a large effect on the
younger Pynchon as well.

I do need to read Chekhov , can anyone recommend a good translation? I am
always wary of picking up foreign authors, simply because a translation can
render it either overly accessible or entirely unreadable... in the process
of amending this through y foreign language studies...
