Reminds me of Drugstore Cowboy, holes in the floors of cars. When Proust
was being drawn back from the town, and he was looking over his shoulder at
the steeples, was he in a car, or carriage.
And that reminded me of something Bergson said about funny. Actually I
just happened to be looking at Bergson in a different context, but I was
wondering this, in a different context, the other day, not a knowitall
culture, but kind of, in, how this is a everythingsfunny culture, or was
everything funny to Bergson too:

I was looking at his thoughts on higher consciousness, I'd heard somebody
mention he had an interesting thought or two about, like levels of.
