With all precincts reporting, Democrat John Lehman looks to be the
only successful Democratic challenger of the six recall races being
decided by Tuesday's election. The results are still unofficial with
35,255 votes recorded for Lehman, 779 more than incumbent Republican
Van Wanggaard's 35,479.
If these results are certified, surviving a potential recount, it
would give the Democrats slim control over the upper house at least
until the November general election. That election will be decided
using newly drawn districts.
