It would seem his intentions were Poetic, and thus, as Blake sez markedly,
a member of the "Devil's party, without knowing it."
Or as Yeats sez, he has mistaken "the brightness of the moon, / for the
prosaic light of day" and thereby the Ob is wrecked, and if he were a Poet
and not an Astronomer, perhaps he would have drowned as well in the Great
Bog of Cloone?
