Not a bad guess given how much of an Ibsen fan JJ was. Funny story along that line. JJ got into Hauptmann as well and made a translation of one of his plays but I seem to recall reading that the translation was crap and nothing came of it. 

I'm gonna hold off on the answer to see if anyone else wants to try. Maybe...
