I remember that William Hogan, mentioned below, who is a good poet and intelligent reviewer, it seems.
thought M & D was too...busy with incident, without a real plot that built and carried and he commented
that Pynchon was great with names, like Dickens, but they were off ultimately, whereas Dickens' were
perfect, just right.
To this I remember thinking if one's naming was like Dickens now, it wouldn't be like Dickens. And that
Logan didn't get ambiguity as achievement....
