NP was Mackin's thread on the 'hot' new soft porn trilogy

I have talked to some book industry friends today and the
story of these books is ...interesting...if one is interested. 
 
First, mad instant scrambling to kill the availability of the old 
editions late last Friday,.......................
 
That "small" publisher the weekend articles cited was really a self-publisher.......
originally set up via self-publishing company LuLu.............. 
 
Titles were POD--print-on-demand---priced at 29.95! (w only minimal margins
for bookstores to order in) yet the sales were there........and seemed to be driven
just by the read and word-of-mouth.............
 
Pynchon (and some others) might have some notions why such 'soft-core-porn' became so
hot right now......that the pressures of the world produce such responses is one truth
of much of the sex in GR......and maybe AtD?
