I align with Bekah on Oedipa. She was chosen as narrator to go on the quest, to get (or not) what revelations were
just on the verge. No accident.
P can be complex (about a whole gender)....Frenesi is no ideal, unlike Oedipa.

Do yu really think Pynchon wrote IV from memories on the beach? Didn't
know Pynchon was so friendly with female fuzz.
>One point, IV was written after AtD - so AtD couldn't really have been written to take revenge for his surrender in IV.
Itz california re-tread material. When it was slapped in the slick
jacket and sent to the hard boiled factory for a haircut is not
exactly when it got its gum sandles and weed. I bet it was written
around VL, in rough form, and dressed up later.
>Don't the women in IV seem mostly like beach bunnies and band groupies - aside from Wolfman's wife?
The female fuzz? These gals ain't even sticken wit choo till the
mullah runs out. They go they own pension plans.

M&D didn't do too badly by women either - if I remember correctly - and what about TCoL49? That was his 2nd novel. SL was a bit lame with the women though -

Well, a buddy tale about two science guys who go out on adventure is
hardly a book that does anything much at all with females. The line is
straight and strong, hard to keep up. The only female thang out there
is the mother earth and she gettin raped.
Oedipa is a parodic figure, a young republican housewife who only gets
to snoop around cause she slept with the real estate man. The beatles
boys, the playwright, the science dudes in the yo-yo dine, they all
have fun with her female weaknesses.
VL? Don't get me started. That Prairie is into some violence
enthusiast, and she can't help it, just like her moms.
