Pynchons Problem

Love in the western World is also Death in the Western world. The
lovers fear that passion will be won over by love.

All that morbid church raising that Watson wants to give to Huck is
about as frightening as the Whiteman his own self, that is, not
figuratively, Pap, who sure does resemble the Big D. Pap is whiter
than the belly of a bull frog. And if there aint no devil, only god
when he's drunk...well...Pap is no man to cut a deal with so...

And, as Huck sets out on his adventures, after he fails to see how
Tom sees the world, and abandons the romantic play with Tom, who has
been reading Don Q and taking it at face value, Huck sets out on a
Adventure that will show him Death on the shore and life, and yes,
Love Leslie, on the raft. Of course, just as Tom's Don Qisms are
dangerous because Tom's game could easily mean the Death of Jim,
Emmeline Grangerford poetry is dangerous cause it could easily mean
the Death of youth. Youth, Conrad. Yeah, he's not to good with them
females niether.
