A renaissance era manuscript in an unknown script and either unknown language or gibberish. It appears to be botanical illustrations of non-existant plants. You can see high quality scans form Yale (owner)http://beinecke.library.yale.edu/digitallibrary/voynich.html. A notebook left behind by an interstellar botanist stopping over in Florence for a chat with Leonardo?
It seems like an elaborate hoax to me and rather funny, with crazy plants and astrological signs surrounded by nude chubby ladies with big heads in bathtubs, each holding a star/flower. Nude, that is except for Aries who must be regarded by the artist as the sign of the priesthood, since all his ladies are fully clothed in the bath. John Dee sold it to Holy Roman Emperor Rudy II toot for 600 gold ducats. Nothing like a gold ducat in yer pocket. The drawings of imaginary plants really are charming.
New to me. Check it out if you never heard of this odd little gem.
