Get a British reprint. The British editions reprint exactly the British text from 1973, a corrected version. The first three U.S. printings have errata that was corrected in the fourth printing paperback.
(See Mead.) I don't know about the hardcover, and Mead doesn't say anything about it. Ok I only have The British edition from the '90s, when film, not PDFs, was still the printer's friend, but I assume the latest follows that one. The British V. is the best edition of that novel on the market these days, too, as the world I hope will soon see. (A small portion will see it anyway.)

The correct text is:

This printing is clearly defective. I somehow overlooked it since I
was using the PDF version when I translated it. Anybody knows if this
is better?
