I don't know why I'm telling you Pynchonoids this, I should be penning an
essay and publishing!
But do you know a book I've heard mentioned a number of times lately,
bouncing out from initial thoughts on who I've come to call the Anteskews,
whatever civilization or people(s) that did things long ago with advanced
technologies we have no idea about, because the jerks didn't think about us
in all our glory and map out a readable history of themselves for us, is
that Hamlet's Mill book, maybe some of you oldtimers, maybe Paul Fussell
knew it, Sanillana and Dechen. (I have played chess with the U.Thurman
brother's, lost to that idiot Dechen, but beat the older, better player
brother Thurman. Uma is still alive, but still.)
The Mill, like what was it, some Jung notebooks being talked about a while
ago on here, is just too much to pay for at this point for me so I'm not
buying it, but it doesn't matter because I'm just talking about the gist,
which is, broadly, on the of that, ancient mythologies, well basically they
were actual truths about their society and science coded into the stories.
My idea being, and maybe Hamlet's Mill gets into this, that what if
nevertheless the myths are still myths. Take an analogy from today. The
mythologies that our global banks are writing into our history about their
achievements in our global advanced civilization, how the bank gods came in
and toughened up corporate and company managements and lazy workers and
built a Great Economy--none of which is true, except that the bankers
became powerful enough to write their own mythologies.
The point being, the mythologies are not just myths, they were written by
actual beings, they're real stories, but they were still *myths*. They *were
*the capitalist scum that are engineering the myths of "ourself" for the
beings on the other side of the next deluge....
