To make a great Gatsby a filmaker must find a great Myrtle Wilson, a
Greek diner proprietor who can convince the audience that Wilson had
an Owleyed vision of blood in a pool of booze, a Rocket-feller who can
peddle a bitch, and a setting that can make Robert Moses a park in a
Queen's valley of ashes and who can drive an antique car over a flower
and make of it a rubber breast flapping lifelessly while a Jewish Rat
fixes his blacksox in the night while all the lonely people never do
come to Jimmy's funeral.
