edition, first printing. Inscribed and signed by Pynchon on the
half-title page, "10/86 / To Michael Urban, / Best Wishes, / Thomas
Pynchon." Octavo. 760 pages. Publisher's red-orange cloth with dark
red spine titles and an arch design blind-stamped on the front cover.
Top edge stained red. Original pictorial dust jacket. Minor creasing
to the jacket spine, else a gorgeous copy in fine condition.
Accompanied by an original Autograph Letter Signed from Pynchon to
Carla Urban, the inscribee's mother, in which Pynchon agrees to sign
some books for her son, Michael, a lymphoma sufferer whose birthday
was coming soon. Four books signed from Pynchon to Michael Urban,
including this one, appear in this auction.
