I never read David Brooks. Well, actually I glance at his columns over
breakfast. Then I go upstairs to the computer and look at the reader's
comments. Poor David Brooks. It all sounds so good and reasonable while
he's writing it--only to be instantly and easily shot all to pieces. The
same thing happens to the books he writes. But he has the patience and
forbearance of Job. He soldiers on. He can't help himself. He reminds me
of Dr. Strangelove, trying to act so sane and normal, then slipping into
his Nazi salute. I know I'm being unfair in this last, but I can't help
myself either.
