I want to jump on and ramp up your observation on P's Exploratory way with ideas....

YES! YES.....that is one of the greatest pleasures for me.......I mean he takes entropy, say, and 
Look what he does with it. in a few books.....the metaphoric use and then it's connection to
Other " things", other ideas, other aspects of life.......

And I guess this Exploratry use---even if many think I reduce some idea openness to a limited meaning---is what I think most distinguishes Against the Day from the others.....

Just look at the math connections.....Tesla's "ideas".....Let There be Light etc......
