Well, someone mentioned eating and communion. I think Virgina Woolf
has much to say on this idea that characters need to eat, and women
writers need to eat what men munch on, stop sipping thin teas and
dunking stale crakers in a room o their own, but then, would she have
them, with the newspaper in hand, head out to the outhouse, squat...a
bloom of farts fanned from me with the sports and obituaries....
I take seriously that poem of the boy Bryant, Thanatopsis.
TO HIM who in the love of Nature holds
Communion with her visible forms, she speaks
A various language;
