About Prizes

Hello All,

Given that today is the day of the BIG lit prize it seemed fitting to mention a book about prizes and awards that I just finished.  "The Economy of Prestige" by James English takes a very complete look at the world of prizes and awards. It indicates the degree to which the events and awards play a big part in what becomes an "important book". It also mentions some of the scandals that have gone along with the prize process (there's a good bit about James Wood).
