yes, Laura, the IV is in the works, meaning that some mysterious editor 
in the Exmo publishers has been reading the text for... what, the third 
month already. i honestly don't know what he does with the text. busy 
changing the TRP's trademark punctuation perhaps (the reason for 
bitterness is deep-set: they - the cheapskates - refused to pay adequate 
money to a real editor i suggested, and hired some hack who works for 
food, so i don't expect much from his efforts)

a correction though - this is not _my_ blurb - this is some benign 
banality the publishers attached to the book. in my blog entry i said 
(not once) that this is not the preferred edition (my colleague and me 
didn't have much control over it, thus the ghastly cover, wrong number 
of pages )) and god knows what typos inside. the preferred edition is 
dull grey, with only the authors name on the cover.

well, we don't expect much, in all honesty, 'cause it's gonna be read by 
some, but those readers don't usually write publicly that they liked 
something. they prefer to pick on words and blame translators that they 
did everything wrong. they have started saying already, btw, that they 
don't like some words in the text, and hate it that some other words are 
not in the text. like i said, it's gonna be a national sport among those 
few readers: pick a word and hate translators for it. i mentioned that 
in the russian version there are appox 300 000 words, they have plenty 
of material. some readers got offended ))

this text is going to be taught in some universities with advanced 
courses in amlit of course, but again, this is a readers ghetto. this 
edition (2nd) makes the total run of 5000 copies, so. there were a 
couple of preliminary reviews claiming that this is a significant event 
in russian lit, comparable to the publication of the complete 
translation of ulysses but to say this is not exactly a rocket science, 
is it? still, we are grateful, and through them maybe someone else in 
russia will notice the book.
