Narrating Sentiment in Mason & Dixon

Thanks for this..but....always, well not always, but once again, jargon,jargon to confuse me.

Stuff on Crying of Lot 49 around pp late 60's, early 70's just seem off to me.....Totalizing narrative?...That short novel perhaps about non-Totalizing in some sense....
