culture, I was just pointing out that the "Just the facts" meme refers
back to the character of Sgt Joe Friday played by Jack Webb on two
different iterations of "Dragnet". I can understand why somebody might
confuse that with Bogart. The laconic speaking style of the cops on
Dragnet was practically a parody of the language in Chandler and
Hammet's novels.

As an American I can only say good luck trying to get Americans to
shut up, despite the old cowboy expression.
