Germans were banned from eating sausages during WWI because intestines of 250,000 cows were needed to make each Zeppelin

Sounds impressive but as far as I know German Bratwurst amd related stuff
is usually stuffed into sheep's or pig intestines, There are casings made
from cows's small intestines but they are more of the specialty kind so
they wouldn't make a general sausage ban necessary.
