*The second back door*
With regard to an Israeli backdoor and Israeli spying on the US, one of
the RCMP investigators said:
--"The Israeli Mossad may have modified the original
PROMIS modification [the first back door] so it became a
two-way back door, allowing the Israelis access to top
U.S. weapons secrets at Los Alamos and other classified
installations."--
The investigator added that the Jonathan Pollard case was
insignificant by comparison.
As mentioned earlier, the most important information here comes from
Gordon Thomas:
--In early 1999, the British journalist and author Gordon
Thomas published an authorized history of the Israeli
Mossad titled Gideon's Spies: The Secret History of the
Mossad. The book quotes detailed admissions by the former
long-time deputy-director of the Mossad, Rafi Eitan, about
the partnership between Israeli and U.S. intelligence in
selling to foreign intelligence agencies in excess of $500
million worth of licenses to a trojan horse version of
Promis, in order to spy on them.--
Wiki, "Inslaw"
In his sworn affidavit Thomas has claimed:
--[Rafi Eitan] described what he views as the crowning achievement of
his lifetime of service to Israeli intelligence: the sale to foreign
governments through front companies of a computer software system for
tracking terrorists, and Israeli intelligence's secret downloading and
copying of the information on terrorists that each government entered
into its new terrorist-tracking computer system.--
This is what Ernie's "[s]oftware to kill Arabs" is about.
--Rafi Eitan told me that the computer software product that the
Government of Israel and the US Department of Justice each separately
modified for intelligence applications is the PROMIS computer software
product that INSLAW, Inc., developed for wholly different application
domains (...)--
--According to Rafi Eitan Israeli intelligence, evidently based on the
technical knowledge of the PROMIS software that it acquired by modifying
PROMIS for the tracking of terrorists and on its knowledge of the US
government's internal uses of modified versions of PROMIS, exploited
PROMIS for purposes of espionage against the United States. Israel's
Mossad conducted PROMIS-related espionage against the United States
through Israel's embassy in Washington D.C.--
Gordon Thomas, "Affidavit"
There seem to be at least two backdoors, one programmed by Michael
Riconosciuto on behalf of shady figures in the CIA, Wackenhut, the
Reagan administration, you name them, the other one programmed by
Israeli experts. The PROMIS with the second backdoor was sold to states
with information on Palestinian terrorists. This or yet another version
of PROMIS was then also used by Israel for espionage against the United
States.
