"Godwin's Law, n." - Word of the Day from the OED

Is there a word for this trope which some journalists love to joke with?
 
It goes (in intended guilt by association)....."you know who else was a vegetarian?" 
                                          "You know who else wore uniforms?"
Etc....
 
Can be funny.
