And, all this prooves that politicians are full of shit; historians
pump them up so they can write a good narrative, but the forces that
move an economy like the US, up and away in a hot air bubble, then
down into a crises like the one we are still recovering from, are
beyond politics. These forces beyond, as any reader of GR may
appreciate, are not political forces; these are the foces that produce
the bannana, not the bannana republics or the fruit companies or the
dictators or the cliffs or fists or cans that get kicked. That said,
engineering, MIT engineering, not anything Obama did or didn't do, is
what has made a difference in the lives of millions of Americans
The Fed, the banks, wall street, not the politicians...did most of the
heavy lifting here, although, the people are the ones who must pay for
it. The politicians talked and walked cliff-side, but coulod do little
or nothing. Thank God!
Itz a fairly simple thing that Ben is doing; he has lowered interst
rates and pumped some inflation into the system. We will, we the
people will pay for the party now. We did it after the war and we must
do it after this party and the wars. Our investments in UTS will
return less and prices will go up a bit. That's it. Call it financial
repression if you like, or a tax, or whatever, but the govt. will
liquidate itz debt and we will pay for it.
Politicians have a fiscal charage, but it doesn't much matter anymore.
Itz up to the Bankers.
I was a bit shocked to see that the American Mag. Time didn't have the
balz to put Bernanke in as Person of the Year. This was a no brainer
in Europe. Hell, the man has done wonders without passing a single law
or enacting anything.
In Banks we trust because we must.
In Politicians we distrust because we are not stupid.
