Happy 130th Birthday, Franz Kafka!

Damnedest thing....

I gotta do a due diligence office visit last month in NYC. It's a real
estate deal sponsored by a relatively small group headed by a guy whose
father was a literary agent. Son runs the agency business on the same floor
as the real estate thingy, and has been very successful in both ventures.
Clients include Dan Brown and Nelson DeMille.

Turns out dad specialized in representing foreign authors in the US
beginning in the 30s........

I had the privilege of meeting the principal during my visit.....I was
really supposed to talk real estate, but I asked if he would instead
indulge me by explaining how his father wound up representing Franz Kafka
in the US. He couldn't have been more gracious.....
