They fell into an easy routine of lazing, drinking and eating, then fucking and sleeping, which after the drinking became Somewhat indistinguishable. For Katherine, everything seemed to pass not so much in a blur as in snippets." [ she sees "the huddled stone-cut splendor of Valleta" ....and "an array" of human flesh from all of Europe....striking her as " erotic and vile" at once]
A little later, of a major character's father, we read: " already [ it is 1985] a little old to be on the bleeding edge of financial gain."
