M & D had some ARC/ galleys printed for select reviewers and a few to give away to key readers.
I do not know how long before pub date ( but some on this list should)
AtD Galleys for reviewers and a very few others--I think Tim Ware got one as he had set up the wiki for this one---were only available like 47 days or so before pub....( I am just alluding to a number, but someone online or in a print publication did mention the number of days he had to read it......and you are right, time was short.
As we talk and reflect, I vote that someone inside Penguin ( or the printer they use) printed out
The pages in the BLEEDING EDGE file as they are now---see Bailey's word from a publisher
Implying the book has not yet been fully proof-read...and slapped a phone shot of,the cover for it...
GR circulated to paperback houses to read ( read into) to bid on before publication as a manuscript....I know a guy who has one.....the title on it is MINDLESS PLEASURES and it has
The Joni Mitchell lines.....

> Thanks for the ARC info, Mark. Rumors about previous P ARCs that I've heard say things like reviewers only got them in the weeks before publication. V. is the only one that I heard about that came out so early, December of '62, three months before publication. Never heard about CL49 ARC, but apparently, an early copy in a ringed-binder. No Arc for GR, SL, and VL. I guess I never heard anything about the date of the M&D and ATD ARCs. In any case, your explanation makes sense.
