The huge increase in sales of 1984, in the print edition,---more than doubling now; up by 7x at Amazon for example---in these unfolding United States, is of the edition with Pynchon's introduction in which he speaks of " possibilities of social control beyond, etc. etc...." 

Hope that gets read with the novel itself.
