Try a lab coat with a kevlar lining. I also put on special eye protection when glancing at some of the more idiotic posts.
There are some very kooky folk around. Thank goodness there are folks like Monte.
Don't leave because of anybody's mad rants, we need scientists here.

Well, I'm trying. Which I guess is why I'm still here. But the attacks
on science feel pretty personal, and they sting. I don't think I could
get away with talking about how, say, black folks are ignorant and
violent. But completely unfounded stereotypes about "scientists" seem to
be fair game.
I guess (just to get a little bit more serious) it's similar to how
discrimination against Jews for college admission was commonplace and
accepted in the mid twentieth century. Or against Asians is accepted
now. I'm not even sure I want to "go here". But i think everyone would
do a little better to speak and write with some more compassion and
without a need to cast all blame on some Other.
