pynchon and science

Absent in this "what does P think about science" argument (which is not the main thesis but keeps popping up) -- is an aesthetic reading.  Pynchon writes rhapsodically about science.  I'd say better than anyone and better than he writes about anything else.  Pynchon, I think, loves science, particularly vis-a-vis theology, philosophy, superstition, power, money, etc., and bemoans the way it is put to use by all that I have just listed.
