In _The Corrupted Pilgrim_, J. Paul Narkunas begins with this idea, this
theme that we find in P, one that has been traced to the last passage of
Fitzgerald's Gatsby, the theme of failed possibilities, of what might have
been.

While showing how P deals with the Eastern Question & Western Question, the
author calls attention to the religion in the wars. In the 1984 Intro, P
says Orwell did not see these coming. As first, I was bit confused by what
P meant, but this now makes a lot of sense to me.
