GR translation: chosen for its affinity for moonlight

The Douglas DC-3 was specially designed to allow passengers to sleep during
the flight. The original version, named DST (Douglas Sleeper Transport)
even had a kind of divan beds or sleeping berths instead of seats.
Therefore, I think that its "affinity to moonlight" is an allusion to the
original purpose of this aircraft.
