JM Ledgard's Submergence

Came across this novel just published in the US--about an SIS agent
captured by terrorists in Somalia and a scientist studying the deep oceans.
Revolves around their affair.  It's an odd but wonderful mix of Pynchon,
DeLillo, Ballard, and Sebald. Highly recommend it. Lots of interesting
things going on, perceptions, ideas in such a short novel
