Pynchon in Public Day

I did start off my conference room meeting  with an announcement of TRP's birthday and reading Pynchon in
Public Day--because only his work IS public......(my key counterpart at this meeting was too full of nervous
seriousness, known sometimes as Gravity, so this surprise pleased all, it seemed, and loosened up the worrywort.)

I am reading "Against the Day" on a park bench---shades of "Malcolm"---in a residential neighborhood
of Nashville wearing my Hans Fallada T-shirt " The main thing is, you fight back".....which I don't 
do enough of, and is self-laughable with my lucky and privileged life, of course.  

Going into the nation's largest book wholesaler later this morning carrying "Against the Day". Maybe I'll
get a convert.
