This viewing Of THE GREAT GATSBY ( in 3D and wonderful) fully registered the quick two symbolic scenes of the spiraling  downward of a plane, a biplane, perhaps, as with Pynchon in Against the Day, a symbol of modernity. 

and, of course, a reckless car is in the  novel but Luhrmann accents speedy cars in three
Scenes that can remind of P's car focus in V. A little. If not, certainly more filmic embodiments
Of the new age careening recklessly, carelessly...
