That line cuts through so much! I love it and may recycle it in
conversation one day.

Though it must be said, this book has polarised opinion both critical
and on the P-list far more than the previous two. Longtime Pynchon
readers struggling to bother reading on while others rave; reviewers
all but throwing the book across the room or stating that it's genius.

But yes, all respect to those who don't dig it.
