question of environment, temperament, what have you. I'm just not enthralled by the time period Pynchon chose in BE. as some have siad maybe future generations will appreciate it more but rather than Pynchon being obscure I find alot of it obvious, a death-knell for me as a reader. 
I also just have a real killer bias against Manhattan, hideous bitch goddess that she is
rich
