BEER Group Read. a Depression and to be duked in

When the tech collapse happened, Silicon Valley and Alley musta felt it like 
a Depression (although the economists never went that far).
 
"to duke in" seems to mean 'cut in' [on the profits] but I cannot find it in any online dictionary
(and meant to check an OED but can't at the moment.....anyway, is this a Silicon Valley
phrase and it does remind that the OED has 7 (seven) words with TRP as first print source...
including 'shrink"!..........
