Nails the USA* as well—I've lived in LaVerne, north-east of Pomona,
North by Northwest of Claremont and its College. Can't help but
thinking that David Foster Wallace's final moments were in that
general vicinity. Another kind of "Vineland", if you think about it,
DFW attempting to reconcile the unreconcilable in "Pale King", finally
saying "the hell with it." After the Götterdämmerung of my first
marriage colliding into my Saturn return, moved to Berkeley, living
with a dropout from Stanford who previously majored in Physics, the
sub-atomic kind, working at a Tower Records circa mid-80's, majoring
in the in the B.O.T.A. and O.T.O. with a sideline of the Grateful
Dead and the cult of the Deadhead,

Small World. Living la vida Pynchon.

*The mediated USA in particular.
