Yes, Pynchon willfully alludes to lots of his own tropes in Bleeding Edge. Lots.
 
As Jochen observes, it is present tense and from narratorial merge-mind with Maxine. 
Unlike with AtD, say, where his tropes fit into major overarching thematic frames, here
the frame is...........Pynchon/Maxine telling a detective story....about the flow of money, so,
 
he is playing with his own tropes except for the overarching ones about money, real estate, what else? 
. Wilfully playing with his own key ideas. What does
that mean?
